The Zooreach Conservation Seed Grants offered by Zoo Outreach Organisation are meant to shed a light on the documentation of poorly known groups of wildlife such as flora, fauna and fungi in poorly studied landscapes by newcomers, early and mid-career conservationists with less than 10 years of experience in this field. There are currently two grant sizes available: One is up to ₹1 lakh for individual projects or smaller scopes, and another is up to ₹2 lakhs for larger projects or groups. The grants are for 4-5 months and aim to enhance baseline knowledge of species distributions, document threats to them and their habitats, identify important areas in need of research and conservation, and carry out foundational activities necessary for effective conservation, including perception studies, education and outreach, and on-the-ground conservation actions. These grants also encourage publications in the peer-reviewed Journal of Threatened Taxa or a fact-checked article publication in Zoo’s Print. Note: these are only open to Indian nationals and the 2024-2025 grants cycle is restricted to peninsular india, namely, Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
