Kati Bihu, or Kongali Bihu, is celebrated in Assam in mid-October, marking the start of the harvest and the arrival of migratory birds. The Kati Bihu Bird Count, organized by the Assam Bird Monitoring Network, will take place from October 17th to 20th, 2024. Participants are invited to go birding for at least 15 minutes, listing and counting all species they observe. Observations should be uploaded to eBird India by October 31st, 2024, and checklists with ‘X’ species should be avoided. For those new to eBird, guidance can be found on the Bird Count India website.
