Birds without Borders: Indian Grey Hornbill, The Conjugal Love Birds That Love Gujarat Cities

Out of the nine species of hornbills found in India only one species, Indian grey hornbill, is found in Gujarat. Grey Horbills are common residents of north, central and south Gujarat regions. known for its conjugal love relationship. The male Indian Grey Hornbill is fondly called ‘Vahughelo’ in Gujarati, which means ‘a doting husband’ – a testimony of the level of trust and bond a hornbill pair shares. The Indian Grey Hornbills have become accustomed to urban areas and are found in big cities too.
