City-Dwelling Wildlife Demonstrate “Urban Trait Syndrome”

A study conducted on urban wildlife found some interesting survival traits. It was seen that the bird species that are highly adaptable have a higher chance of survival in the cities when compared to specialists. City birds were found to be smaller, and were seen to feed on a wider variety of foods. It was also observed that urban birds produce smaller clutches than their rural counterparts. which have been associated with higher survival rates and increased growth.
